2. What data we keep
In short: Only what Hausmates needs to work.
- Your account: email address and name.
- Your profile: photo, stage of life, interests and your answers to the profile questions.
- Your phone number, if you add one. It stays private.
- Your listings and photos, and the address of your home. We never show that address publicly.
- Messages and files you send in chat.
- Replies to homes and votes from housemates.
- Your email address and preferences if you set up a room alert.
3. What we use it for
In short: To connect people who want to live together.
We use your data to run your account and listings, to let you reply and chat, and to email you about new replies and messages.
We only send room alerts if you signed up and confirmed your signup.
4. What others see
In short: Visitors never see your address. Messages are only for the two of you.
- On a listing, visitors only see the neighbourhood or town, not the address.
- People only see your profile when you reply to their home, or when you have a listing yourself.
- Only the two people in a conversation can read it.
- Housemates you invite can read the replies to your listing.

In short: As long as your account exists.
If you delete your account, we erase your data within 30 days. Sometimes the law requires us to keep something a little longer.
